Excel sheets, conference calls & meeting minutes. This is how Anuja and Gaurav planned their wedding.
Networking is really an eye-opener especially when you have the chance of meeting your potential life-partner (for everything else you have BharatMatrimony.) This is how Anuja met Gaurav - A common friend of theirs introduced them and they fell in love while texting each other over a period of time; so much so that when they met again for the first time, it felt like the two of them had met a long time back.
Gaurav, being the romantic, planned a dreamy proposal for Anuja. He got down on his knees and proposed to Anuja with a shiny Diamond Ring in front of all his friends! Anuja was smitten and instantly said yes!
Anuja & Gaurav started planning their wedding 6 months before the wedding day. They had an interesting approach to their wedding planning - It was executed like a corporate project. Below is their approach to wedding planning:
4 people were involved in the planning:
Anuja, Gaurav, Anuja's brother & Gaurav's mother
An excel sheet was made with column headers like Venues, Decorators, Mehndi, Catering, Jewellery, Clothing, Photography, etc.. The cells were filled with prices, advance payment status, clauses (certain services providers have clauses like 'only in-house' caterers allowed'), contact numbers, dates and timing.
A conference call was scheduled once in three days and tasks were assigned to all 4 involved with discussions about the previous tasks and its status.
A summary of the calls was made and shared with everyone.
With the process in place, Gaurav and Anuja went about their plans and all this was executed to perfection despite the 4 of them living in different cities! They managed to pull off their dream wedding with this plan.
The couple chose a photography package that included Candid and traditional photography for all the ceremonies and a pre-wedding shoot. Anuja says that she had the best time while shooting their pre-wedding pics. Gaurav would crack jokes and the photos had real laughter in them.
Coming to Anuja's Bridal wear, she designed most of the dresses and jewellery for herself! A true artist! Her keen eye for design and detailing can be seen in her Jewellery styles and outfit choices.
The couple says that planning a wedding is not an easy task. With no external support like wedding planners, it is really difficult to talk to service providers, plan everything, and finally make it happen. Anuja had a vision on how her wedding should look like and she just went on to realise that vision. The theme, dress code, decoration ideas, catering menu, etc., was decided by her and with the help of her family, she had a fun experience while planning. She says that the key to planning for a wedding is to start well in advance so that you get enough time to execute the vision. It is difficult, but when you finally see the fruits of your labour, its the best feeling ever!
